What is cBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a powerful natural compound found primarily in the flowers of the hemp plant. A full-spectrum extract of hemp will contain a high percentage of CBD and varying levels of other similar naturally occurring molecules, called cannabinoids. There are more than 100 cannabinoids known to exist in hemp, each possessing unique, synergistic, health-promoting properties.

In the past several years, CBD has been widely celebrated for its many healing benefits for humans and our pets. CBD supports the mind and body in myriad ways because it has positive effects at the cellular level, satiating hungry receptors and providing much-needed calm and relaxation. In this way, CBD creates internal space to facilitate healing the physical as well as the mental aspects of life.

Hemp and marijuana are similar plants, belonging to the same family, but they are not the same in chemical composition. Hemp is defined as being a member of the genus Cannabis sativa L. containing less than 0.3% THC by dry weight. While marijuana would have high levels of the cannabinoid THC, hemp instead contains high levels of CBD, which is generally regarded as the mellowing, therapeutic component of cannabis.

HempLucid CBD is derived only from legal, licensed Organic Colorado hemp. Our products are legally allowed to be sold in retail because the amount of THC is sufficiently low.

How Do People Use CBD?

There are many different ways to take CBD oil, so you can choose a form that suits your lifestyle.

CBD oils, known as CBD tinctures, have always been the most popular method of using CBD. Using CBD tinctures under the tongue is a terrific way to begin or end your day. The effects of CBD relax the body within a few minutes, and this relaxation becomes a source of success as you start your morning or the calming influence you need as you drift off to sleep in the evening. It’s amazing how many benefits come from being calm, day or night. The relaxation benefits alone make CBD worth recommending.

CBD topicals and CBD creams are a great method for getting the benefits of CBD on a specific sore spot, and providing targeted relief. CBD and CBDA lotions are a great option for relaxing the muscles after exercise-induced inflammation, while also moisturizing and replenishing the skin. Our CBD Topical products support your mind and body wellness with all-natural, wholesome ingredients.

CBD gummies or CBD capsules are an outstanding method for using CBD throughout the day. Absorbing CBD through the stomach can be effective for feeling deep relief in the low body, and the effects tend to last a bit longer when ingested orally.

CBD has maintained popularity in recent years because of the sense of well-being and freedom from discomfort it invites.

The Endocannabinoid System

Cannabinoids are the name given to the family of therapeutic molecules found in the cannabis family of plants. Being diverse and abundant in hemp, these molecules interact with a web of cell receptors in your body known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

Interestingly, the human body produces cannabinoids internally, in the form of neurotransmitters like anandamide (the runner’s high). These are called endocannabinoids, as opposed to phytocannabinoids — cannabinoids derived from hemp or cannabis. The body utilizes the active ingredients of hemp in a way that is similar to how it processes other neurotransmitters. This phenomenon is responsible for the unmatched effectiveness of CBD for certain conditions.

Studies show that the ECS — supported by phytocannabinoids — plays an important functional role in many physiological processes, including regulating anti-inflammatory response, immune system health, mood, anxiety, sleep length and quality, and more.

CBD and other cannabinoids support the ECS as part of a daily wellness strategy. The cannabinoids in hemp each have unique properties that modulate one another and, together, create an effect of connection with self and an enhancement of personal well-being. As the ECS is nourished by full-spectrum hemp extract, the body comes to achieve balance, which introduces us into a state of homeostasis, or general wellness, which is the correct foundation for performing to our highest potential.

The peaceful qualities of the CBD experience can be transformative. When the ECS is activated, the benefits can be felt throughout the body. Much research is underway to further explore the far-reaching potential of endocannabinoid function.

Will CBD Get Me High?

The active ingredients in hemp interact with the body in a fascinating way.

The cell receptors that exist throughout the body and respond to cannabinoids are called the CB1 and CB2 receptors, found mostly in the brain (CB1) and organs (CB2). The effectiveness of a CBD extract depends on the concentration of cannabinoids and how they interact with these receptors.

The hemp-derived CBD products from HempLucid are legal and non-intoxicating. This means that you can enjoy full-spectrum products all day and still maintain presence and focus.

THC is the component of cannabis that is associated with the “high” feeling. This sensation is produced by the interaction of THC with the CB2 receptors in your ECS. Since hemp contains a very small amount of THC, the CB2 receptors are only mildly affected by full-spectrum CBD products. THC certainly enhances the effectiveness of a CBD product because cannabinoids work together, but the amount of THC in a hemp product is so low that it does not produce any psychoactive effects.

CBD, on the other hand, interacts with the CB1 receptor and, even then, only loosely. It is thought that CBD may actually modulate the THC experience and decrease the psychoactive effects.
