CBD & The Vaping Crisis

Vaping is rapidly gaining traction as a preferred delivery system for CBD, THC, and nicotine products. And while we can’t speak for the latter two, vaping CBD—from trusted sources—is perfectly safe.

However, with every rising trend comes a wave of companies that cut corners to make a quick buck. Often at the expense of the consumer.

Vitamin E Acetate & The Vaping Crisis

If you follow any news outlet, you’ve likely read about what popular media is calling a vaping crisis.

There are still several unknowns as to what is causing this sudden outbreak of vaping related illnesses. Although, most signs point to shoddy ingredients found in black-market THC vape cartridges.

A common tie between cases of these illnesses is the presence of Vitamin E Acetate used as a cheap thickening agent. This ingredient is harmless when ingested or used topically, but can cause serious illness when vaporized and inhaled.

Vitamin E Acetate comes in many forms, both naturally occurring and synthetic, and none are safe to inhale. Other concerns around vaping have stemmed from the use of synthetic cannabinoids, PG (propylene glycol), and flavoring additives.

Hemplucid vape products contain none of the above.

What are Synthetic Cannabinoids?

Our bodies are wired to interact with naturally occurring compounds found in cannabis. We can process these natural cannabinoids with no ill effects. However, in a world that has historically frowned upon the use of plant-derived cannabinoids, synthetic versions have been created in mad-scientist fashion.

Alongside reports of respiratory illness is evidence of dangerous synthetic cannabinoids used in vape cartridges, which are then irresponsibly marketed as CBD or THC.

These synthetic “cannabinoids” gained popularity due to cheap costs and because conventional drug screenings cannot detect them.

To illustrate our relationship with cannabinoids, it’s often said these compounds interact with receptors in the endocannabinoid system through a lock and key relationship.

Meaning, the cannabinoid fits a receptor in much the same way a key fits a lock.

This is, of course, referring to the way natural plant cannabinoids function. Imagine hemp-derived cannabinoids are keys to inner balance. Naturally compatible with cannabinoid receptors, or locks.

Synthetic Cannabinoids

Synthetic cannabinoids and natural cannabinoids are only similar in the way an excavator and a delicately crafted house key are. They’re both going to get you inside your house (i.e. have an effect), but one is going to cause some serious damage in order to do so. Know what you’re putting in your body. Don’t force the lock.

Research Before You Vape

Understandably, the vape market has taken a serious hit in light of recent news. Now, more than ever, vape-related industries are in need of sensible regulation.

Research the company that makes the product and what ingredients are used. And if you can’t find that information? Steer clear.

There are a few ways to vet a company, especially in the realm of hemp and cannabis.

Before using any hemp-derived product, check for third-party testing and ingredients. These third-party tests, called a Certificate of Analysis, should be available online at the manufacturer’s website.

You can find a Certificate of Analysis for every Hemplucid product batch. Scan the QR code on any Hemplucid box or enter the lot code online at quality.hemplucid.com to verify the safety and purity of our CBD products.

Self-Regulation in an Unregulated Industry

At Hemplucid, we ensure our vape products are free of any harmful additives, solvents, or artificial flavors. We stay ahead of the curve through self-regulation in an unregulated industry to ensure the safety of our products.

Our hemp is grown to organic standards and our extracts are formulated in a certified food-grade facility. We make sure we match and exceed industry standards every step of the way.

And to provide further peace of mind, we sent our vape product to a lab that offers Vitamin E Acetate testing on cannabis products.

We are committed to the natural integrity of the hemp plant. Hemplucid vape products will never contain any form of Vitamin E, synthetic cannabinoids, or harmful substances. Our products are tested at every step of formulation to ensure safety and potency.

New to Vaping CBD?

Vaping Whole-Plant CBD allows natural hemp compounds to enter the body directly through the lungs.

The rate of absorption of any hemp-derived product is linked to the way these compounds are metabolized. And while most CBD products are absorbed throughout the process of digestion, vaping bypasses the digestive system altogether, making it the fastest delivery system available.

If you’re new to vaping CBD, there are a couple of things to consider to ensure you have the best possible experience.

Vape Hardware

This gets a little tricky, and we can’t recommend a specific setup for vaping, but we can offer a few tips on what to look for in a vape device.

First, research devices with variable voltage or variable wattage modes. These settings allow more precise control of the amount of power supplied to the coil. Alternatively, there are also devices that allow temperature control.

Our vape products are made with a thick VG (vegetable glycerin) base, so good airflow and low power settings are recommended to avoid overheating or burning the hemp extract.

For best results, pair the device with a tank or coil system designed for high or “max” VG liquids.

Hemplucid Vape Strengths

Hemplucid Vape/Drip tinctures come in several strengths to suit personal preference.

Keep in mind, inhaled hemp extracts offer higher bioavailability than other routes of absorption. Your body will absorb more Whole-Plant CBD per serving compared to sublingual or ingested routes. Remember, when vaping CBD, less is more!

What Strength Should You Start With?

Like any Hemplucid product, we recommend starting low and slow. Everyone is different and will respond differently to hemp extracts. If you’ve already incorporated Whole-Plant CBD products into your daily routine, you probably have a feel for where to start.

However, if you’re new to CBD, you may want to begin somewhere in the 150-500mg range. Adjust your strength from there based on personal experience and desired effects.
